National Oatmeal Day
by Admin on Oct.29, 2009, under FOOD
This day should be every day. It makes sense, though, that as the most obese nation on the planet* we would have a day devoted to such a delicious healthy food. Of course, when most people are eating oatmeal, they are dousing it with syrup and skittles. I found this and it’s funny:
*we are followed closely by Australia.
Ubuntu 9 is Out

Who cares?
I sort of do. I have been considering a new operating system and since I work in the “BIZ” I thought I might go with Linux. However, Google is coming out with the chrome OS, so I think I might just go with that. What is a Karmic Koala?

The Cloud
by Admin on Sep.15, 2009, under ELECTRONICS
Hey MobileMe, here’s a thought: let people upload multiple photos to THE CLOUD. Do you know how tedious it is to go through multiple images and send them out to share with the rest of the world. Prohibitively tedious. This is a no brainer.
That being said, I will be continuing my MobileMe membership in hopes that you figure it out.
UPDATE: I received the following comment on this post:
there are many ways you can upload multiple photos all at once to “THE CLOUD”. you can do this from your iPhone (on OS 3.0 and later). you can do this if you use iPhoto or Aperture to publish a Gallery album. you can also do this when you log in to me.com/gallery and click the upload icon.
if you have questions about how to do any of these things, check out MobileMe’s chat support. It’s available 24/7. Here’s a news post they published about chat support: http://www.apple.com/mobileme/news/2009/04/live-chat-support-247.html
This is great, but HOW do you do it. I clicked the link and it leads to the generic support page. The only known way to upload multiple photos to the cloud from the iPhone is to go through your photos, select them (5 max.) and email them to yourself @ mac.com. THEN from there go in and place them in your cloud. 5 max? And all the extra steps. Why not a “upload all photos to mobile me” function? Especially when you have access to WiFi (make this required). Then Apple won’t have to worry about gobbling up ATT’s already exhausted resources (their primary concern when launching new features). Correct me if I’m wrong.

Autzen Stadium in all its glory:
So the Ducks pulled one out against Purdue this weekend, but it was a last second nail-biter. Naturally I had to celebrate after the game with a tree climb at Rennie’s.
When We Were Young

A nice photo of us boys after the playoffs in 8th grade basketball. Don’t let the trophy fool you, we lost every game, except for in the playoffs, when we played like a team possessed.
Proud Day for Oregon Football
by Admin on Sep.04, 2009, under SPORTS
Well, if we hadn’t shown the world we were whining, underachieving crybabies yet, then this certainly did it:
After a shattering loss to kick of the season, Oregon showed the rest of the country just how much class we really have. Not my proudest day to be a duck, but at least it wasn’t this:
And if you don’t know what movie that’s from, shame on you.

I was talking to Moo yesterday and he told me about this advert that 3M released a few years ago where they placed $1mm in a apparently impossible-to-break-into case. Passers by could attempt to break into it and take the cassh. Great promo that generated a lot of buzz for a company whose products aren’t so much meant for typical consumers. The industrial clients it normally targets might not be impressed by this ad as much as they would be by reduced prices and better quality. Anyway, here were my questions:
1) Can we use lasers?
2) Can we use a sledgehammer?
3) Are people taking turns?
4) Is it really safe to be successful? I don’t want to suddenly be in possession of $1mm cash in the middle of NYC.
No matter. I found out that you could only use your feet, and there was security standing by to make sure you didn’t use the aforementioned methods or actually win the money (which was actually $500 on top of worthless paper). One kid took a 30 foot run and demonstrated how not to perform a flying dragon kick on the glass. Doctors standing by speculated that he broke every bone in his foot.
Finally Signed Up
by Admin on Aug.31, 2009, under SPORTS
Finally signed up for this, despite the shooting pain through my left leg right now. All intents and purposes I could run it right now, but likely not at my target time. The physical therapist told me I’m doing something wonky in my gait when I run, and maybe when I walk.
This race is a buildup to the amazing Tokyo marathon early next year, and ultimately an amazing race TBD WIFLI.
Thanks
